The Asuama-Kyere Community Mobile Library Ghana(AKCOMLIB-GH) held its regular literacy and cultural heritage program today at the palace of Nana Afia Siraa-Ababio III, Queen Mother of Kato Berekum. The palace served as the venue for the event, as it does for our routine activities.
Attendance and Grouping
Attendance was taken, and the beneficiaries were divided into two groups:
1. KG/Primary: Engaged in a reading session facilitated by Madam Gifty Oduro.
2. JHS: Participated in a mathematics session led by Mr. Zakaria Hudu Krah.
Activities Conducted
Following the academic sessions, the program transitioned to traditional games, which included ludo, oware, ampe, and others. These games are integral to the program as they promote:
Social Interaction: Encouraging teamwork and bonding among participants.
Cultural Preservation: Instilling a sense of cultural pride and continuity.
Cognitive Development: Enhancing critical thinking, strategy, and decision-making skills.
Physical Fitness: Providing physical activity in a fun and engaging manner.
Hospitality
Nana Afia Siraa-Ababio III generously provided Item 13 (refreshments) to all beneficiaries and facilitators, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for everyone’s efforts.
Conclusion
The event was a success, fulfilling the mission of AKCOMLIB-GH to empower young minds while preserving cultural heritage. The Queen Mother’s unwavering support and the facilitators’ dedication continue to make these activities impactful.
