Asuama Kyere Community Mobile Library Ghana (AKCOMLIB-GH) Supports Nkyenkyemam M/A Basic School with Free Reading Materials, Storage Cabinets, and Refreshments


On Friday, 15th November 2024, the Asuama Kyere Community Mobile Library Ghana (AKCOMLIB-GH), led by its visionary founder, Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III, the Queen mother of Werempe Division of the Berekum Traditional Area and Queen mother of Kato in the Bono Region took a giant step in promoting literacy and education in Nkyenkyemam, Berekum Municipality.


With the theme “Drop the Streets, Read a Book a Week,” the initiative donated free reading materials to the Nkyenkyemam M/A Basic School, inspiring students to embrace education and develop a love for reading.


Following the donation of approximately 200 storybooks with a free story cabinet to store the books, children aged 5 to 17 were treated to soft drinks and biscuits. They expressed their happiness and pledged to take reading seriously.

Event Highlights


The program, which was graced by chiefs, elders, educators, and other dignitaries, featured:

1.Courtesy Call to Traditional Authorities: Acknowledging the chiefs and elders of Nkyenkyemam.

2.Message from the Founder: Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III highlighted the importance of education and access to books in rural communities.

3.Speeches: District education officials commended the project and emphasized the value of books in shaping young minds.

4.Book Display and Handover Ceremony: Books were officially handed over to the school, alongside a showcase of the mobile library’s collection.

5.Celebration: over 400 Pupils enjoyed refreshments, including soft drinks and biscuits, making the day memorable.


The event also saw a contract signed between AKCOMLIB-GH and the beneficiary community to ensure the sustainable use of the donated resources.

Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III, the Queen mother of Werempe Division of the Berekum Traditional Area and Queen mother of Kato in the Bono Region  delivered an inspiring message during the event, emphasizing the transformative power of reading. Her message highlighted the vital role education plays in transforming lives and communities.


The District Administrator, Mr. Moses Kwame Owusu, encouraged students to adopt a reading culture and urged teachers and parents to guide the children in maintaining the books. The Chief of Nkyenkyemam led an inspection of the donated books, emphasizing their potential to transform the community.



This impactful initiative reflects AKCOMLIB-GH’s commitment to bridging the educational gap in rural areas. Through the dedication of Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III and her team, communities like Nkyenkyemam are being empowered with tools to create brighter futures.
