Madam Roberta Turkson, in collaboration with the OGB Foundation, donates 30 storybooks to support AKCOMLIB-GH (Read More)

In a beautiful act of generosity and commitment to education, Madam Roberta Turkson, a proud Ghanaian based in the United States, has partnered with the Oman Ghana Baako (OGB) Foundation to donate 30 storybooks to the Asuama Kyere Community Mobile Library (AKCOMLIB-GH). This thoughtful gesture is aimed at enriching the library’s resources and inspiring young minds in underserved communities across Ghana.

Madam Turkson, a dedicated member of the OGB Foundation, learned about the work of AKCOMLIB-GH through its Executive Director, Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III, the Queen Mother of Berekum-Kato. After hearing about the library’s mission to make books and educational materials accessible to children in rural areas, she was deeply moved and eager to support the initiative.

Reflecting on her decision to contribute, Madam Turkson shared, “As someone who values education, I was thrilled to hear about the incredible work AKCOMLIB-GH is doing to bring knowledge and inspiration to children. It’s a cause that resonates deeply with me, and I’m honored to contribute to this mission.”

The 30 storybooks, chosen to spark imagination and curiosity, will add to the library’s growing collection and provide children with the opportunity to explore new worlds through reading. For many of these young readers, this may be their first encounter with books that not only entertain but also educate and empower them to dream big.

Speaking on behalf of AKCOMLIB-GH, Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Madam Turkson and the OGB Foundation. She said, “This donation means so much to us and to the children we serve. Books have the power to change lives, and thanks to Madam Turkson’s kindness, many young learners will now have access to stories that will ignite their love for reading and learning.”

AKCOMLIB-GH has been working tirelessly to bridge the literacy gap in rural Ghana through its innovative mobile library service. By delivering books directly to communities, the library ensures that no child is left behind due to a lack of access to educational resources. Donations like this one play a vital role in sustaining and expanding the library’s impact.

Madam Roberta Turkson’s contribution is a shining example of how the Ghanaian diaspora continues to give back to their homeland. Her dedication to promoting literacy and education serves as an inspiration for others to follow suit.

The team at AKCOMLIB-GH and the children it supports extend their deepest appreciation to Madam Turkson and the OGB Foundation for their generosity and belief in the power of education. This donation is not just about books—it’s about giving children the tools they need to dream, learn, and build brighter futures.
